Weizenbaum Conference Update

In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Weizenbaum Conference had to be postponed to June 17-18, 2021. As the conference organizers, we felt that this was the best course of action and would give us enough time to adapt to the challenges and problems associated with organizing an academic conference under the current conditions.

We are very happy that almost all of the presenters of originally accepted submissions have declared their willingness to still participate. Thank you all for your flexibility and understanding!

Our first and foremost priority is the health and safety of all participants. Our credo therefore amounts do this: let’s do what is possible within the bounds of what is safe. Accordingly, we are working on a plan to ensure the feasibility of social distancing measures throughout the entirety of the conference.

We are working on implementing hybrid formats which would enable participants to present or attend via virtually. To do so, we are still in the phase of learning what has (and hasn’t) worked at other conference settings.

Organizing this event will be a work in progress, wherein we will need to adapt to novel situations and learn to implement new ways of interacting and communicating in the environment of an academic conference.

Ultimately, the success of all of this will depend on the active involvement of our speakers and guests. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us to share any concerns, requirements or recommendations you might have. Perhaps you have experienced formats that you would recommend or advise against? Your input will be greatly appreciated.

We hope you will bear with us and look forward to welcoming you, in person or online, at the 20201 Weizenbaum Conference.
